Contractors Who Give a Damn

Doing things Differently

As we approach Christmas, the season of giving, it’s been pointed out that we do things a little differently all year round…and it’s something we’re proud of. More than just a company that lays concrete and asphalt (although we like to think we do it well!), we’re also a company who gives a damn. As much as doing a good job brings satisfaction, it’s the work we do with people and places who find life harder that really makes our hearts sing.

This year we’ve been involved with Te Pākau Maru, the new residential development in New Brighton. It’s a non-profit development by charitable foundation, Kainga Maha, that has been designed to 7 Homestar standards and offers access to affordable, healthy, and secure living.

We’ve also worked with local food banks, and donated time and materials to ‘have a tidy up’ and install basketball hoops at schools. Satisfyingly, we’ve had the pleasure of creating walkways through Hōhepa, not just adding long-term value to the lives of the residents, but also bringing a wee spark to many of their days (and ours!) as they watched the diggers and chatted with the guys on the tools.

However, it’s not just our business that gives time and resources to the local community. It’s also our fabulous staff. Some of you will have met Karl. He’s the guy who’s passionate about classic cars and this year he filled two cars with Christmas gifts for kids in need, a number of those gifts coming from the Austin Contracting team. It’s inspiring stuff and a true reflection of the spirit of Christmas.

Will You Make a Difference?

Will you make a meaningful impact this Christmas? From donating money or your time, we can all make a difference this holiday season. Whether it’s supporting local non-profits, volunteering in soup kitchens, sponsoring kids in need, or spending time with an elderly person living alone, our contributions, big or small, can make a world of difference.

Wishing you a wonderful summer of laughter and fun.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and we’re looking forward to 2025!
